WELLS  RESIDENCE

The small two bedroom, 2 bath, La Jolla house was in need of a whole house remodel and expansion.  Additional area is added at the back of the “L”-shaped house expanding the master bedroom suite and the living/dining/kitchen areas, connecting the new volume to the existing garage. An additional bedroom, laundry room, and powder room is added in the reorganization of the plan.  The kitchen, dining, and living areas are open in one great room under a sloping wood beam ceiling.  A lower soffit within this space defines the kitchen area. Large bi-fold glass doors open the main room and the master bedroom to a deck area with a fire pit. A large dormer emerging from the sloped standing seam metal roof, made from a steel shipping container, contains a home office.
